I already told you guys in one of my past post that Sofia (the little girl who I take care of) she`s a really talented gymnast.

If you have a gymnast in your life, you know what I’m talking about when I`m talking about gym bags.

Working with Sofia I found out that there are 10 things that she should always have in her gym bag.

So I decide to share my gymnast gym bag experience with you and I hope you guys can give me some good advice if you think that I forgot something.

1 Healthy Snacks

Sofia is a level 6/7, so she always practices around 4 to 5 hours per day.

It`s a lot, so she absolutely needs some good and healthy snacks in her gym bag.

I usually pack her some fruits, for example apples, bananas, strawberries, peaches, grapes. Let`s say that depends on the season.

I can also pack some veggies like chopped carrots or cherries tomatoes, but she will like the classic chocolate chips protein bars too.

2 Water bottle

The water bottle exactly like the snack is one of the most important things that she always need to have in her gym bag.

Water bottle can have different sizes, shapes and materials.

Usually the kids one are made in plastic and are really easy to use.

But one of the bottles that she loves the most is the fruit infused water bottle. It`s a really good way to make kids drink more water.

I usually prepare her the water bottle the night before.

I cut two or three of her favorite fruits like strawberries, and I put it inside the water bottle infuser then I add water and I leave it in the fridge all night.

So tasty!!!

3 Muscle tape

So, if you have a gymnast in your life, you know what blisters and bruises mean!!!

Tape on google “Rio 2016”, I found out that there is a really funny and interesting video about why gymnasts don`t like to shake hands. One reason is they have a lot of blisters on their hands.

The muscle tape is not only important just to cover the blisters on the hands, but also for all kind of muscle pain.

It helps keep the muscle warm so you will feel less pain.

It`s really common for kids, especially those who do a lot of sport have “Osgood-Schlatter Disease”. It`s an inflammation of the bone, cartilage, and/or tendon at the top of the shinbone (tibia), where the tendon from the kneecap (patella) attaches.

Sometimes for this kind of pains muscle tape will help your kids a lot!

4 Muscle pain relief cream.

Exactly for the same reason of the muscle tape, the pain relief cream is really important.

Sofia’s mom found out this amazing cream that is called Biofreeze (http://www.biofreeze.com/ ) with menthol. It`s a cold therapy relief very effective and certainly much more simple then ice packs.

Another really good one is the Arnicare cream ( http://www.arnicare.com/about/ ). It`s a homeopathic cream with arnica, really good for all kind of pain.

5 Hair brush

For gymnast hair is very important.  So for that reason we can`t miss the brush in the bag.

There is a lot of types of brush. I will maybe talk about all the brushes that we use for Sofia`s hair when she has to compete in another post.

For now, I will tell you that one of the best “every day” brush that she keeps in her gym bag is the wet brush

It`s just a regular brush with the cool thing that it`s really super easy to use with dry or wet hair.

6 Hair bands & head bands

A good gymnasts’ gym bag is always full of hair bands and head bands.

Sofia is not a really big fan of head bands, but if she has to pick one she will chose the tiny ones.

For regular practice she will do a simple ponytail with two or three hair bands to be sure it doesn`t fall down!

7 Bobby pins

Bobby pins are very common in gymnasts. They use it a lot, and when I say a lot I mean really a lot!!! Sofia has bobby pins everywhere, and she will put it in every corner of the house.

So be prepare to the bobby pins invasion!!!

But keep it a small amount inside a case in the gym bag, would be really helpful with all that small hair you can`t keep in the ponytail.

8 Hair spray

Hair spray is another thing that gymnast uses a lot. Sofia usually keeps in her gym bag the travel size one and fortunately you can almost find all brand of hair spray in that specific size.

After having tried so many, we found that for us the best one is Got 2b ( http://www.got2b.us/got2b/us/en/home.html ) is like glue, perfect for short hair. But we didn`t find it in the travel size yet!

9 Flip flops

Sofia lives in flip-flops.  Have a pair of flip flops always in the gym bag is really important, easier and faster.

10 Leotard

Is the number 10, the last thing on the list but the most important one.

Leotard, without it she can`t practice, well, she will not practice.

Usually are very expensive. Sofia loves the GK elite ones and sometimes in some discount leotards web site you can find really good deals.
